Phew, what a week!

I had two interviews this week which have led on to second interviews. I did the second round of interviews with one of those employers today. I do the second interview with the second employer Monday. And to make things even more complicated, I talked with another employer today who said he wants to arrange a round of interviews for me.

Of all these guys, the one I did today is the one I'd most like -- it's with a small but profitable company doing interesting things where you get to play with lots of cool technology and make it do things that make people want to buy. The second employer is a big company, but the division that I interviewed with has a strong manager and seems to be doing interesting things with network infrastructure and virtualization. The third employer is a startup, and is going to try to do what we originally wanted to do at my previous employer before the board of directors forced us to try to fit square pegs into round holes and sell into a market that the technology simply wasn't well suited for. I wouldn't mind trying to actually make that original vision work at a new company.

So anyhow, that was my week, and is why you didn't get any music this morning -- my queue finally ran empty. Here, have a pair of cats instead:

Bonus new music: Saskia Sansom. Nothing of hers on Youtube yet, but click on the "music" tab and you can listen to some of her songs there...

  1. You're doing well to get so many interviews. Maybe you'll get more than one offer!

  2. I know! And the deal is, at least two of them I wouldn't have a qualm about. The other one -- the big network company -- well. I'm not usually working for big companies, I'm usually working for small companies and/or startups. On the other hand, the manager I'd be working for was acquired with a startup and still has that startup feel to him, he managed to move the bureaucracy at double-time to get me in there. Still, if I had multiple offers that's the one I'd be most likely to skip...

  3. I hope you get your pick of *all* of them. Talented penguins deserve satisfying work. (Well, we all do!)

As for the music clips - honestly, I enjoy a cat pic even more, probably because I'm cat-deprived but have no shortage of music in my life.

Hoping to hear good news from you soon.

  4. Even though you face economic uncertainty, at least you have the opportunity to spend your days doing something that sparks your creative juices. In my racket, with its (for the moment) enviable job security, the tasks are always the same. Deal with people in pain, clean up ooze and gore, stress over holding back the inevitable tide of death. A hospital is a hospital, bodies are bodies. No matter where I go, it's "same shit, different day." I don't envy your stress over transition, but you can at least hope for a brighter worksphere.

Of course, your hopes will eventually be dashed against the frustrations of small minds and big bureaucracy, leaving you cynically embittered, but that's a snark for another day. Or am I just talking about myself?
