Born in South Phoenix

Given recent events in Arizona, which has made it legal to deport anybody who was born in Arizona but is suspiciously dusky and not carrying their passport or birth certificate with them, this song is quite appropriate. Cheech and Chong, "Born in East L.A.", about a dude who gets deported to a country he's never known and has to pay a coyote to get back into the USA where he was born.

  1. What's happening in AZ is the most invasive oppressive abuse of civil rights since the US rounded up Japanise-Americans in WWII. But history will fail to put the event in the proper historical context. An adjoining state is poised to leagalize recreational use of grass.

The success of either movement should be unlikely - but they are both popular and dominant in adjoining states at the same time.

  2. Funny thing about that deporting anybody anytime stuff. ICE has been doing it for several years, with a specialization on the mentally challenged, and they didn't need no stinking law to do it. IIRC in the old days even the Mafia bosses got deportation hearings.
