The McCain Strategy

Sensible conservative John Cole is on fire about the McCain campaign and its despicable campaign of lie, sleaze, and deceive:

In the last few days, the McCain campaign has decided to go full on sleaze, and we now have the spectacle of major party candidates routinely, in their stump speeches, questioning the patriotism of the opposition. Not only questioning the patriotism, but insinuating, quite clearly, that Sen. Obama is in league with terrorists. In addition, they have released a commercial and have falsely stated in speeches that Sen. Obama does not support the troops and has accused them of being wanton murderers.

[...]

Whipped into a froth by their venomous cheerleading vice-jingoist in chief, a self-styled pitbull in heels, they are now shouting “treason” and “traitor” and even getting one fellow inspired enough to yell “kill him” in regards to Bill Ayers. She was even unable to stop bashing Joe Biden as he was attending his mother-in-law’s funeral.

Meanwhile, we are required to ignore the unsavory connections of John McCain and Sarah Palin. We have to pay no attention to McCain’s relationship with radicals and Nazis and his weighing on behalf of a man who has admitted to murdering a civil rights leader. We are told the Keating 5 fiasco is old news, and besides, McCain was innocent anyway, despite having professed guilt for two decades (fun fact- McCain’s lawyer is John Dowd, who was also Monica Goodling’s lawyer). Now that is change you can believe in! We must ignore McCain’s decades old relationship with Nixon-era crook G. Gordon Liddy. We must pay no attention to the fact that Sarah Palin is married to a man who willingly belonged to a political party whose leaders openly proclaimed that “My government is my worst enemy. I’m going to fight them with any means at hand.”

Having failed to sell themselves to the American public, McCain and Palin have nothing left to do but fling shit and hope they can turn Obama into Osama bin Laden.

John Cole is a former Republican who now admits that the Republican Party has moved a long way from the party of Reagan (though I would submit that even in the era of Reagan, the Republican Party wasn't so great, though we had no way of knowing then what 28 years of Reaganism would do to the nation). He just stated what I have already mentioned as the strategy that has been adopted by the Republican Party and by Republican supporters of the McCain campaign and by the McCain campaign themselves, which is to shower sh*t upon the American public, and try to make the Democrats spend all their time shoveling sh*t out of the way of truth rather than telling the truth, which is that Republican domination of American politics over these past 28 years has been an utter disaster, causing the dissolution of our industrial base, turning America into the world's biggest debtor nation, dumbing down our nation's educational system, and destroying the hopes and dreams of millions of Americans who no longer have the chance to raise themselves out of poverty that their parents and grandparents had.

Even if you're a Republican who believes despite no evidence that Democrats are "socialists", there is one thing that the facts do show: The nation does better when Democrats are in charge. You can spew all the sh*t you want, but that's the bottom line. The nation does better when Democrats are in charge, and we now have 28 years of Republican domination of politics to prove it once and for all. And there's some folks who want to make that 32 years? Dude. Stupidity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. By that standard, there's a heckuva lot of stupidity in America today...

  1. Actually, the quote is Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. But hey, that fits too.

  2. Thanks for saying so much of what has been on my mind. We have been insisting on this line for some time, and being told that we just don't "get it" that the Dems are not the way. Well, no, obviously, the hand basket to hell is better and faster driven by Republithugs.

  3. I'll get by, I've always gotten by, and being thankful for what I have, getting by is what I do.

If they get in for another term it will just make it all fail faster and I'm okay with that, it can't be fixed now until it does topple.

Hey, wait a minute, you seem to have done very well under 28 years of them so what are you bitching about now?

They like greed and more comfort and so do you.

  4. None of the present ways are the way, but you don't see the real problems so you can't offer fixes.

And if you did see them you wouldn't like them.

  5. In case any of those in Washington are still clueless (which is probably all of them) as to why they are getting a 9% rating, they should look at how both campaigns are being ran for one.

McCain/Palin have come out recently with so much venom that if they win, it will be a sad day in politics as this will become the norm. I am at a level of disgust that I previously thought was not possible.
