A comment on last night's VP debate

Ho hum. Not much interesting said by either candidate. Palin strung a bunch of sentences together into paragraphs that didn't make any sense but sounded good, Biden sounded like a stuffed shirt. Two things did come out though. Palin could not name a single issue on where McCain differed from George W. Bush, and the real reason we're losing in Afghanistan finally came out.

Seems that General McClellan is in charge in Afghanistan. Ayup, they dug up General George McClellan and sent him over there. Now, first of all, General McClellan may have been an excellent logician, but he was a lousy general. He was completely unprepared for the new world of maneuver warfare that was introduced by General Robert E. Lee and perfected by General William Tecumseh Sherman. His execution of the Peninsula Campaign was a mess, and his failure to pursue Lee at Antietam arguably extended the war by another two years at least.

But that's not the main reason why it's amazing to find out from Mrs. Palin that General McClellan is in charge in Afghanistan. No. The real reason it is amazing is because General George B. McClellan has been dead for 128 years. Uhm, the general in Afghanistan? He's named McKiernan. Which you would expect someone who claims that Afghanistan is a "central front" in the war on terror to know, hmm?

Alrighty, then!

Oooh, other snark: General McClellan responds!

  1. I don't know if penguins ever ride horses , but the McCellean saddle is also a disaster . Even if it does allow for horse and man to slightly " cool off " when riding .

  2. You see Palin getting the General wrong just displays that she is not an Elitist uppity folk she is just plain folk.

    Makes me ill.

  3. Great stuff--these are the moments in Presidential politix that make watching them so fun. And on the signal issue Republicons claim to own--the ongoing war on terra.

BZZT, Caribou Barbie, you got it WRONG. So rich...
