Quote of the day

Me: "Grandma's biscuits were stout. Not quite dwarven battle bread, but definitely nothing light or fluffy about them, one of those biscuits with some gravy over it was pretty much a meal. But oh so good."

Bryan: "Sounds like those biscuits will stick to your ribs, if they don’t break them."

  1. Wow, there's a whole world of oddballdom behind that battle-bread link.

  2. It would be funnier if you'd read some of the Terry Pratchett novels starring Carrot, the human who thinks he's a dwarf and doesn't understand why his fellow cops don't like dwarf bread :). It's part of Pratchett's Diskworld series, which is utterly hilarious and entertaining -- and surprisingly deep, he uses humor in much the same way Mark Twain did many years before to point out foibles in our own society.

  3. Just to clarify, both Bryan and I are Pratchett fans and have read the particular novels that refer to dwarf bread and dwarven battle bread, thus a bit of inside joke here that we get but you may not :).

  4. I wish I had it in me to read more whimsy. I'm too grimsy. Can't shake the feeling of "The whole world is fucking falling apart, so why am I spending my time reading something that's not factual and depressing?"
