Not surprised

Amy Winehouse dead at age 27.

Ten years from now, nobody will even remember her name, unlike Janis Joplin or Jimi Hendrix, both of whom also died at age 27. If anybody does remember her, it will be for her prodigious crack habit, not her music. So it goes. Just another dead body that the music industry has sucked up then spit out the dried-out husk at the end.

  1. Don't forget Jim Morrison, either. It's like a goal for self-destructive rock stars to burn out at the same age as Jimi, Janis and Jim. Just as it's important for some comedians like Chris Farley to die like John Belushi. Even before I got back into psych nursing, it was clear that Wino was a self-inflicted death waiting to happen. Too bad, because she had a great delivery when she wasn't wasted. At least there's Adele in the UK now, who's got a lot of the same sultry quality and a troubled back story, without being a complete train wreck.
