Acid sniper

The Black Angels is an Austin band that sounds sort of like if The Doors had merged with the Velvet Underground. This is "Sniper At The Gates of Heaven", off their 2006 album Passover.

  1. Wow, man... Turn on the black-light. What's all that smoke doing in this room? My head feels funny. I think somebody dosed my drink...

  2. Heh. Yeah, definitely one of my more interesting recent finds. You'll be seeing more by them here in the future.

  3. Whoa. Flashbacks. I approve of the song title, I mean, if all the Right is going to hand us is religious tripe...yeah, shoot 'em up!

  4. Actually it's a ripoff of Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn :-(

  5. Stu, this doesn't sound like any track I've ever heard off of Piper at the Gates of Dawn. The Black Angels have a far more primeval sound than Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd.

  6. Although, Stu, you *are* correct that the *titles* of their songs are often tongue-in-cheek riffs of the titles of classic acid trip music...
