Dominance games over

I have no idea who won, but the boys aren't doing the howling catfights anymore. Ah, peace and quiet!

  1. Could it have been a delayed reaction to being in a new domicile? After they got over the shock of moving, they had to re-litigate the pecking order? I'm not sure of which cat was more dominant (don't follow your cats all that closely, dude) but is the previously-dominant one getting older and slipping from his top-cat perch, so now the younger one is asserting his power to overthrow the king?

  2. Mencken is two years older than TMF, and pretty much the alpha cat because though he isn't the biggest, he's the meanest. It looks more like they've arrived at detente again -- I was finding clumps of torn-out black fur on my carpet, so apparently TMF's attempt at a palace overthrow failed. I say detente, though, because at the food bowl TMF decidedly pushes in first... the boy is a real chow-hound.
