Quote of the day

“Remember this distinction: The Donner Party was on track. They were not on schedule." -- Wired Danger Room, talking about the long-delayed F-35 fighter jet.

-- Badtux the Amused Penguin

  1. The late great novelist Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. said " Man was put on earth to fart around."

  2. The Donner party story is on of the great instances on monumentally bad luck. They were probably on schedule until the blizzard hit. The horrible thing is that if they had started just a couple of days earlier, they would have cleared the pass before the snow came, and they would have been OK. If they'd started a couple of days later, they wouldn't have gotten to the pass yet when the snow hit, and they probably would have been off schedule, but otherwise OK.

Don't know where i got this, but I'm pretty sure it's fight.

  3. Shit. ONE of the the great instances OF truly bad luck.

My comment is ONE of the the great instances OF truly bad typing.

    Proofreading, too.

    Oh, well . . .

  4. Interesting mili-blog you linked to there. Aside from reading more about the boondoggle that is the F-35 (I think Australia bought into a piece of that, too) I see that political pressure by Boeing killed a superior aerial gas station that wasn't American enough. Airplanes are the bank scam of the sky...
