OMG it's a gun grab!

So I'm on World Nut Daily's mailing list. I get this message from the "National Association for Gun Rights, Inc." asking me to donate $50, $100, or more, to "stop Obama's gun grab!", saying that there's a bill H.R. 45 that has been introduced that would require registration of all firearms and require filling out a form attesting that you're not a felon, that you know not to point a loaded weapon at anybody you're not intending to kill, etc. OMG! Gun grab!

So I went to the normal place and found the current status of H.R. 45... which was introduced weeks before Obama entered office, and has been quietly buried in a deep subcommittee since February 9 with no, zero, chance of ever seeing daylight.

I guess the head of "National Association for Gun Rights" needs more cash for his cushy six-figure salary, and figures scaring people with "OMG! The scary darky wants to steal your guns!" will get it. And the hilarious part is that the morans will believe this bullshit, which is what it is, utter bullshit -- a bill with no co-sponsors is never getting out of committee, period. Hell, HR676 has dozens of co-sponsors (the whole goddamned Progressive Coalition) and it's not going anywhere... so HR 45 certainly isn't going anywhere. In short, this is just a scam by "National Association for Gun Rights, Inc." to take money from the gullible so their "chairman" can eat well and live in a mansion. Of course, the whole Republican Party is a scam at this point so...

  1. Guess what: they'll fall for it.
They'll fall for anything that fits their world view.
I'm still trying to come up with a new scary story to get them to send me money.

  2. You expected something more from 'marching morons' ?
Besides , last time I bought a new firearm in Ca.(about 1993) I had to fill out a " I am not a Felon or Drug User and I promise not shoot my motherinlaw " piece of paper anyway , so what's the big deal ?
Like you said "they just want Money" . Wonder if I could start some kind of mailing list for income ??? Hummmm .

  3. I'm wondering how much longer it will take the "marching morans" to figure out that their stupidity only pays off for the people who are scamming them. They've been at it for a long time, now, and they're still clueless.

On another note, I'm happy to see that my YouTube videos aren't the only ones that disappeared; hope it's only temporary (OMFG, somebody nuked YouTube, time to orchestrate a march on Washington).

  4. I'm seeing Youtube vids just fine, Phil. Check your firewall and browser settings.

And yeah, the gullibility of these morans keeps a whole cottage industry of scam artists ungainfully employed, like David Horowitz, who has never worked a real job in his entire life (first he scammed lefties, then when he realized lefties were poorer than righties, he switched to scamming righties).

I mean, c'mon. Can't expect Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and David Horowitz and etc. to get a real job, right? They might have to (eek) get their hands dirty!

  5. Someone emailed me about that bill six months ago and suggested I blog about it. I looked it up on Thomas (much as you probably did) and saw that it was a dead letter. I emailed that back and suggested, as you did, that it was a fundraising gimmick which preyed on the stupid.

I probably should have blogged about it, but I didn't, for anything I would have written would have made that reader feel even stupider.

  6. Everything's working just fine, now, 'tux. Thanks. (And I didn't have to do a thing.)
