What noise does carpet make?

This.

This is "The Noise of Carpet" by Stereolab, off their 1996 album Emperor Tomato Ketchup.

Oops. This is "John Cage Bubblegum". I don't know where the carpet went...

  1. Nice beat, livelier than a lot of stuff you post. I never listened to Stereolab back in the day; was under the impression that their music was kinda fey and wispy, toward the Radiohead/artsy end of the spectrum.

  2. Turns out this is John Cage Bubblegum, not The Noise of Carpet. Both good songs though :).

Stereolab was/is sort of a French electronica art band with Brit-pop and Kraut-rock influences. Their lyrics tend to be French Marxist tracts translated into English (or sometimes sung in the original French). Definitely Radiohead/artsy end of the spectrum, but not at all fey and wispy unless you think French Marxists are fey and wispy :).
