Judge, jury, and executioner

While looking for more info on the BART cop who shot an unarmed man in the back and killed him in cold blood, I found another nice little video:

Kool! Everybody knows that cops should be judge, jury, and executioner all rolled into one. That rule of law stuff? Old skool, dude! The Constitution? A piece of paper! A 15 year old girl gives you some lip? Beat the shit out of her until she's bleeding on you! Malika Calhoun ought to just be glad they didn't shoot her for mouthing off at them, yessiree!

  1. A nice comment I found somewhere on how a cop should deal with a lippy perp (from a cop, one of the good guys):

They should make "Roadhouse" required viewing for police trainees, especially for the Dalton quote -
"If somebody gets in your face and calls you a c*cksucker, I want you to be nice. Ask him to walk. Be nice. If he won't walk, walk him. But be nice. If you can't walk him, one of the others will help you, and you'll both be nice. I want you to remember that it's a job. It's nothing personal. "

We shouldn't have police officers who take things that personally, and we definitely shouldn't have officers who mistakenly think that they're in charge of doling out punishment. That's why we have the court system.

  2. This video, along with the BART station execution really makes you wonder about the people that have no problems giving law enforcement additional powers/tools at their disposal. Most cops are fine ( I hope), but when did we stop giving a psych. eval. before giving some of these people guns?

  3. And cops wonder why people don't trust them. This is a good reason why!

"...when did we stop giving a psych. eval...."
    They still get them, usually.
There was one here in Wisconsin, last year, that went 'off the deep end' after his girl friend broke up with him. Went to the home where she, her new boyfriend, and a group of other young people had gathered. Went in with a police issued automatic rifle and killed 8 out of 9 people in the house including his ex and her new beau. Then wandered off and blew his brains out.

Psych. evaluations don't always show what's lying underneath.

  4. Psych. evaluations are mandatory here. I don't know how many fail and my guess is not many.

What troubles me so much is that all those who carry the guns and the credentials will turn on us just like this guy did if ordered to do so. Civil unrest is on the table so to speak.

Never been arrested and don't plan on it. One thing people need to understand is that if a cop tells you to do something you better fucking do it. End of story. Police tatics evolved with the drug war.

Being a smart ass teenager like many of us were does not warrant getting the shit beat out of you.

This guy needs the shit beat out of him worse and chances are good he wouldn't do it again.

And his buddy who did nothing needs something as well.

  5. His "buddy" was a fresh-out-of-the-academy trainee who was put into an unconscionable position by his partner who was supposed to be training him. I've been put into that position before as a trainee in a juvenile facility, where I just *knew* that my partner was doing something wrong, but you want to get your ticket at the end of the probationary period so you don't do wrong too but you support your partner during the incident. It's a damned difficult position to find yourself in and you certainly don't second-guess your partner who's dealing with a kid in a way you don't agree with. The kids spot that kinda shit in a second and do whatever they can to exploit it, not to mention that your partner is the one who's going to tell the boss man, "yeah, keep him, he's okay" so going ballistic on him is gonna do nothing except get you fired. So you wait until you get your ticket at the end of the probationary period, and then ask your boss for a new partner if your organization doesn't automatically give you a new partner at the end of the probationary period, and you quietly spread the word that your old partner has gone psycho and hope the word gets around to someone who will do something about it. That's just how this works.

You'll notice that the probationer doesn't get involved in slamming the girl around. All he does is gather the girl's hands behind her and cuff her in the way he's been trained to do after the other officer is finished slamming her around. But it wouldn't surprise me if, after the girl was taken elsewhere and they were back somewhere quiet, the probationer shook his head and said something like, "dude, that was whack. We're gonna get fired." And the old hand smirks and says, "Naw, the bitch needed to be slapped around, ain't nobody going to fire anybody around here, just doesn't happen."

And thing is, the old hand may very well be right.

  6. That is last weeks news.
