It's that time of year again

61 nameless dead. Often mentally ill, ignored during life, spat upon, despised by all but a few, who died young and early of "natural causes" (I guess starvation, exposure, and disease are "natural" but so it goes). Here this year's dead homeless people, homeless people in one of the wealthiest regions of the country, a region with millions of square feet of vacant commercial space at any given time, are given names (click image to embiggen, and pay attention to the age at which those whose age we know died):

  1. You know what I see? (As well as I could make it out, that is, because the resolution on the names gets crappy when the graphic expands out.) About 50% of the dead people have Hispanic-sounding names. Is that who the poor-enough-to-die-by-the-side-of-the-road demographic is in your neck of the woods? Not saying that to cast aspersions on Mexicans and other Spanish-surnamed people. I just wonder why? Are they prone to alcoholism and drug addiction but they don't have the support network -- familial or governmental -- to get treatment/housing in this country? Are more of them murdered and dumped, and they have no one to claim the bodies? Lots of questions from that list...

Ground rules: Comments that consist solely of insults, fact-free talking points, are off-topic, or simply spam the same argument over and over will be deleted. The penguin is the only one allowed to be an ass here. All viewpoints, however, are welcomed, even if I disagree vehemently with you.

WARNING: You are entitled to create your own arguments, but you are NOT entitled to create your own facts. If you spew scientific denialism, or insist that the sky is purple, or otherwise insist that your made-up universe of pink unicorns and cotton candy trees is "real", well -- expect the banhammer.
