I was hooked one night when she did 'Angel from Motntgomery' on the radio.
ReplyDeleteI first heard her about ten years ago off an indie station in Humboldt county. Loved her country rock, despite my opinion of 'country'. Derek Trucks was played on the same station but he was 'electric blues jazz'. It was years later I found they were a couple.
ReplyDeleteIf They aren't famous it might have something to do with his use of headache producing high notes and his "hash" between phrases.
She seems to have toned him down quite a bit playing together.
His earlier work was lovely , 2 or 3 Cd's. , but his mid life work can be painfull to listen to. Sometimes lovely to listen to.

Susan has one of those jazzy bluesy voices that work really well for what she does. But she doesn't dress up in meat costumes and hump dolphins, I guess.
