Ode to roots

This is the Raveonette's tribute to the debt they owe to the Ronettes, "Ode to LA". Ronnie Spector, who survived the Ronettes and Phil Spector, sings some of the vocals. The Raveonettes are a Danish duo who in this tune have created a remarkably American sound...

  1. You know what made me sad in that video? The street shot of 1940s (?) L.A. with the tram in it. The stuff that they lost, because of autocorpo malfeasance... When the collapse comes, I hope there's enough social organization left to rebuild a transport network with literal picks and shovels like they once had (not the one they're working at now) so that people will still be able to get around and life will keep going on. When the streets are half-empty because no one's able to afford what little petrol there is left (plus the military demands it anyway) there will be lots of room for trams.
