Breakfast of champions

Slaid Cleaves, "Breakfast in Hell" off his Broke Down CD. An old-fashioned working man's ballad.

  1. In the old days when I listened to lots of folk music (1980s until about 2001) I would have thought "What a stirring ballad!" (Bonus points for Canajun content, too.) Now I'm thinking "So some mid-level corporate tool flogged the workers to labour in hazardous conditions on what should have been their day off, all to boost the profits of some land-raping lumber barons. Fcuker got what he deserved." Being overly politicized has made me a sour sonuvabitch.

  2. Some hacker got into my computer and now my sound system isn't working along with other things.

We need to start killing low life hackers instead of just trying to live with them.

  3. Bukko, I have to admit the same thought flashed through my mind. Doesn't make the song anything other than what it is though.

BBC, yeah, the fact that it's so hard to catch hackers means we ought to punish'em harder when we do catch'em. Right now it appears we're on the bass tournament plan when it comes to hackers -- i.e., catch and release. Siiiiigh!
