If you're so blue the blues aren't blue enough?

Jason Molina played as "Songs: Ohia" for a long time. Now he's playing as the "Magnolia Electric Company". Jason is another one of those hard working types who aren't pretty so will never get a real break in the music industry. Damn fine songwriter though, kind of reminds me of Neil Young. This one is "What comes after the blues?" I think Paul Krugman might be getting there, heh!

  1. Heh, yourself.

He certainly seems "pretty" to me, but I'm already partial to bluesmen.

Krugman? He's just beginning to sing them (seriously).

    Thanks for the tunes.

  2. Short, chubby, balding, with a face like a pudding, generally doesn't describe "pretty", are you sure you're looking at Jason? He's the pudgy guy in the brown shirt doing the singing. He looks like some nebbish accountant or something, not like a glamourous male model or a bad-ass or something else that the music industry can hang a marketing hook on, so of course he gets the same respect from the music industry that anybody else who doesn't fit into one of their "slots" gets -- i.e., none. Of course, given the state of the current music industry that's probably a good thing, they've lost any interest in helping artists build careers and now it's all about "find some young rube, exploit the shit out of them, discard them bankrupt and bleeding after extracting any money they may have made from selling CD's or touring, find another young rube." Probably why Emmy the Great had to create her own label for her own album, her intelligence -- and her family's pile of dough -- scared the crap out of the majors because there was one young lady that they wouldn't be able to exploit without an it's raining lawyers moment. (Sorry, couldn't resist that last link, to a remix of the biggest gay porn movie of the past decade, 300 :).
