Hopeless emptiness

Townes van Zandt, "Nothing", off his 1971 album Delta Momma Blues. The footage is from the movie Heartworn Highways, well worth having for a lot of music and footage from that era of "alternate" country.

  2. This was the last song on the album. The rest of the album was over-produced the way most of Townes's early studio albums were (though there were some very good songs on there despite that), but the producer wisely left this song as-is, just Townes's voice and guitar, fading off to silence at the end. Then you sit there for a minute or two in silence before getting up to put the record away.
