The house royalty is not amused. A study in black and white.
-- Badtux the Royalty-owned Penguin
In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.
The religious right is motivated by the suspicion that someone, somewhere,
is having fun -- and that this must be stopped.
Ground rules: Comments that consist solely of insults, fact-free talking points, are off-topic, or simply spam the same argument over and over will be deleted. The penguin is the only one allowed to be an ass here. All viewpoints, however, are welcomed, even if I disagree vehemently with you.
WARNING: You are entitled to create your own arguments, but you are NOT entitled to create your own facts. If you spew scientific denialism, or insist that the sky is purple, or otherwise insist that your made-up universe of pink unicorns and cotton candy trees is "real", well -- expect the banhammer.

Have I seen this one in color before?
ReplyDeleteYou may have seen this one before, but it was never in color -- I took it in black-and-white to begin with. I think black-and-white photography makes a black cat just pop, it brings out his essential shiny blackness quite well, doncha think?
ReplyDeleteAs for how I choose what cat picture to put up, I have hundreds of them in iPhoto, and I just pick whatever one appeals to me at a given time. No chronological order or anything. This is just an interesting photo to me, so it doesn't surprise me that I may have put it up before.
I prefer the other royalty:

Whether it's color film or B&W, Fang has to be the most photogenic cat I've ever heard of. I believe you when you say it's always been a B&W pic, but I still feel like I've seen this one in color. I don't know why. Maybe it's his eyes...
ReplyDeleteBlogtopus, dogs are not royalty. Dogs are servants. "Man's best friend" and all that. Cats, on the other hand, were worshiped as gods by the Egyptians, and they have not forgotten it. It is the human who is the servant of the cat, not the other way around.

BadTux, I agree with your sentiment. I was referring to the royal nature of the welsh corgi - the Queen and all.
ReplyDeleteStephen King called cats the "unprincipled gunslingers of the animal kingdom" or something along those lines.
Dogs are dogs; they follow, they fetch, they love unconditionally, and they poop on your lawn. Not much more, haha.
Quite well done indeed. Charming kitties, though somewhat supercilious in expression. Aren't they all?
