Pink explosion

The rose bush apparently likes the combination of fertilizer and water that it's getting, because it's literally exploded with pink flowers.

The star jasmine next door to it seems to be doing pretty good too. I keep having to hack it away from the rose bush though because it wants to totally take over the place...

  1. That rosebush reminds me of one that was planted in front of our house when we moved in. It was ultimately killed by Oak Root Fungus, but while it thrived, it would put out a profusion of pink flowers... and grow a little... and put out some more flowers... and grow some more... and by mid-July I was hacking it back so that people could get to the front door.

I wish your rosebush such vigorousness!

  2. Do Penguins enjoy roses for dessert?

  3. Karen, this sucker definitely has decided this year that it likes the treatment I'm giving it. I gave it some fertilizer at the beginning of the season (time release type), which has greened it up nicely, and I give it water but I let the soil dry first, which seems to inspire it to flower. And yes, the bloody thing is growing like a weed, it's already twice the size it was at the beginning of the season (I pruned it back fairly heavily this spring)!

MandT, penguins are carnivores. We merely admire roses, we don't eat them :).
