Jimi's ghost

Band is named The Black Keys, song is named "Set you Free", off of their album Thickfreakness. Kinda like Jimi came back as a skinny white boy from Ohio, just in Dan Auerbach's general approach to the guitar...

I speak only for myself - The Black Keys fail to grab me. First, the no-bass player thing has never appealed to me, and second, Dan has a good voice and may write good songs, but I don't hear the finesse and nuance that someone like Jimi had. I like nuance. Again, it's just my opinion.

Nonetheless, these guys have a big following, and I give them credit for forging an original vibe in a world filled with rock star wannabes. Bully for them!

  2. Yeah, they're not big on nuance. But goddamn, they RAWK. And they finally wised up on the "no bass" thing, because the last album had lots of bass. It made all the difference, too: the sound is way less tinny than earlier albums.
