The religious right is motivated by the suspicion that someone, somewhere,
is having fun -- and that this must be stopped.
Because everybody knows that there's no more racism and bigotry left in America, and thus Roger Stockham wasn't really being a racist dick-head when he threatened to blow up a mosque in Dearborn, MI. Because it's not racism and bigotry when your target is Muslims, right? Right?!

The guy thought he was going to blow up a mosque with a bunch of M-80 fireworks? I know they're good for blowing off fingers, but a whole mosque? You'd think in light of this --
ReplyDeleteLate, Late Update: This isn't Stockham's first run in with the law. A commenter points out that in 1985, Stockham was charged with planting of a bomb at Reno Cannon International Airport, according to the Los Angeles Times. The newspaper wrote that Stockham, who was 38 at the time, "has a history of mental problems and criminal offenses." A Bureau of Prisons record says Stockham was released from federal custody in 2005.

Dude was drunk. And you don't get to practice your bomb-making skills in Club Fed, where he spent 20 years (1985-2005) for his Reno stunt. But WTF was he driving around with a trunk full of M-80 fireworks for? He was more a danger to himself than to the mosque!
ReplyDeleteSo anyhow, he's going to get his wish, which is another long stint in Club Fed. I'm more interested in what exactly set him off about mosques, though. Last time this dude was out, the enemy was the eeeeevil Commies in the Soviet Union, not Muslims. Who told him he was supposed to hate Muslims now rather than Commies?
