Mission accomplished!

No Child Left Behind has been so successful that... we've gone from #5 to #11 in international reading comparisons.

Time for Dear Leader to land on an aircraft carrier and strut under a “Mission Accomplished!” sign with his mighty, mighty codpiece leading the way again! Because, of course, it really IS “mission accomplished”. The stupidification of America is the mission, didnja know?!

  1. We've always been stupid. Our intelligence is just an illusion we allow ourselves.

  2. As a teacher, who lost her job due to the state cutting funding for our alternative program, I can tell you that children DO get left behind!! That business is such crap. It all depends on the kids and the "at risk" kids are largely ignored or just put out of school because this new breed of teachers does not want to have to deal with their needs. Most of them are also boys. Big surprise.

Schools are so busy teaching "to the test" anymore that the basics get left behind. So many of them can not read well or write worth a darn, but they teach them what they need to know to get the scores that bring more funding into the schools and so on and so on.

Ground rules: Comments that consist solely of insults, fact-free talking points, are off-topic, or simply spam the same argument over and over will be deleted. The penguin is the only one allowed to be an ass here. All viewpoints, however, are welcomed, even if I disagree vehemently with you.

WARNING: You are entitled to create your own arguments, but you are NOT entitled to create your own facts.
