In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.
The religious right is motivated by the suspicion that someone, somewhere,
is having fun -- and that this must be stopped.
This is an Americana band by the name of The Trishas, singing a bluesy tune called "Chicken and Dumplings". Somehow I get the notion they ain't talkin' just about food, yo.
Note that every time I lack inspiration for music, I just head over to someone else's music blog and sure enough, there we go. This one was encountered on Music Fog...

Love them! And they are just one of a recent upwelling of women groups playing what some might call New Grass, but goes beyond those boundaries. Groups like Uncle Earl, Those Darlins, Red Molly, Be Good Tanyas and the Wailin' Jennys and others work the road trying to build up an audience, going from one progressive radio station to the next. They deserve our support.
