In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

Ground rules: Comments that consist solely of insults, fact-free talking points, are off-topic, or simply spam the same argument over and over will be deleted. The penguin is the only one allowed to be an ass here. All viewpoints, however, are welcomed, even if I disagree vehemently with you.

Ah, the dance of "Oh, are you actually here? I didn't notice you because of your extreme insignificance. By the way, you don't seem to be paying exclusive attention to me."
ReplyDeleteKeeps me humble, Nangs. Keeps me humble. Whenever I'm getting too arrogant for my own good, TMF lets me know my actual place in the universe: As a source of food. Either indirectly (via acquisition of kitteh kibble) or otherwise.
ReplyDeleteHe is mostly upset with me because he's on a diet and I'm not feeding him, instead a machine is dropping a precisely measured 1/2 cup of food into his bowl precisely twice a day. As you can tell from his wobbly tummy, he needs to be on a diet. He disagrees :).

Wow -- he's got moves like a cat!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the flobbly gutflap, our male black cat has one too. Maybe they're related. I'm sure it's a genetic trait of some subvariant of cat DNA. The way our cat's stomopouch swings from side to side when he runs doesn't bother me for this reason -- it's EMPTY. If it were full of blubber, the way that some thrifty gene in its wildest imagination would desire, THAT would be a problem. As it is for the 20-kilo cats whose pictures you sometimes see. As long as it's hanging down, it's all good, except in the eyes of the cat. Have you considered plasticat surgery? A tummy tuck?
Especially that last move, the "I'm ignoring you but I'm going to look over my shoulder just to see whether you notice that I'm ignoring you" move :).
ReplyDeleteAs far as TMF is concerned, his tummy is just fine. It's us humans who worry about him getting kitty diabetes from too much blubber and put him onto diets and stuff. Which he utterly despises. Thus the calculated shunning on his part (where he's careful to be close enough to make sure that I notice that he's shunning me :).
