So Rep. Trent Franks (R-Moron) holds a press conference, dutifully covered by the Christian Taliban's official press organ (CNS), where he claims that government-provided health care would be bad for the disabled and would result in the killing of disabled children and adults. Problem: The majority of the disabled are already on Medicare or Medicaid, and no such killing has happened.
But I forget, 54% of Americans don't know that Medicare (and presumably Medicaid) are government programs... gah! The stupid! It burns, it burns!

It would seem to me that if the rethuglican congresscritters are so opposed to gummint-funded healthcare, they should renounce their Congressional healthcare plan -- which after all is a gummint program -- and purchase equivalent coverage on the open market. Given the coverage they have, it probably wouldn't cost more than, oh, maybe ten thousand bucks a month.

ReplyDeleteOf course, if they did so, any existing conditions would be "pre-existing" under the new insurance, and hence, not covered. But since they don't mind excluding pre-existing for us, they shouldn't mind it for themselves, right?
