Financial advice
With gold prices at historic peaks, I've seen a number of gold mining companies trolling for investors. A word of advice here: A gold mine is a mechanism for turning investor money into a hole in the ground. Sorta the mining equivalent of a swimming pool. A year later the price of gold has gone back down, and all you're left with is an empty pocket and an empty hole in the ground (if they even bother creating the hole in the ground rather than pilfering the money directly).

Suzan, a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into, not a hole in the ground you throw money into -- that's commonly called a "swimming pool" ;). Or a gold mine. Whatevah.
ReplyDeleteOne Fly: Buy high, sell low is definitely not a recipe for financial health. One thinks these are the same morons who bought "collateralized debt obligations" backed by liar loans after being told, "housing prices never go down so if these people default who cares, we'll just sell the house to the next sucker to pay off your mortgage-backed security."
Jazz, just for that, I'm going to post a Lady Gaga video. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not the day after tomorrow, or the day after that either. But soon. And if people complain, well, I'll just say "Blame Jazzbumpa, he made me do it!" Heh.

ReplyDeleteBefore our concert last night we were talking through a tricky transition in a piece of original music our director wrote, and he said, "If it gets messed up, we'll blame the trombones.* In fact, we'll blame JzB." My response was that's a pretty safe policy, regardless of location or subject matter.
