Escher. It's clear why his daughter donated the ranch to the state -- running cattle in such rugged terrain must have been a major pain. Roads fall off the sides of cliffs all the time, major areas are only reachable on foot or horseback (and even some of them are no longer passable on horseback due to erosion and treefalls since maintenance for horse purposes essentially ended when the ranch was donated 60 years ago), and you can have a 4,000 foot elevation gain in a simple 4 mile out and back hike even though the top of your hike is at 3,000 feet and the bottom of your hike is at 2,000 feet, simply because you're hiking ridge to ridge.

In other words, if you're looking for some exercise, Coe State Park in the wintertime (when the weather is cool) is a heckuva way to do it in a more interesting way than hitting the gym. In the summertime... well, it's two valleys in from the coast so gets above 105F regularly in the summertime, so don't even think about it.BadTuxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01345749557330760251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9612609.post-57178800373310462142010-02-14T08:04:14.688-08:002010-02-14T08:04:14.688-08:00Wow.
