- Badtux the now Happily-employed Penguin
In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

And it is done...

Ground rules: Comments that consist solely of insults, fact-free talking points, are off-topic, or simply spam the same argument over and over will be deleted. The penguin is the only one allowed to be an ass here. All viewpoints, however, are welcomed, even if I disagree vehemently with you.
WARNING: You are entitled to create your own arguments, but you are NOT entitled to create your own facts. If you spew scientific denialism, or insist that the sky is purple, or otherwise insist that your made-up universe of pink unicorns and cotton candy trees is "real", well -- expect the banhammer.

Don't overlook how great it is to utter the phrase "at my new employer". You really haven't lived until you go from 150K$ a year to zero. Best of luck in the new digs and sorry about the heat. Being from Georgia I will say I sympathize but that's as far as I'll go.
ReplyDeleteThe best way to cool a room at night with fans is to shut the door, have an open window, an put the fan in ANOTHER window, bowing OUT.
ReplyDeleteThis draws the cool air in through the open window. If the outside temp goes below 70, you'll freeze your ass off.
Congrats on the new job. Didn't take you long to land on your feet. Which one did you chose?
Cheers!

Monk, never gone from $150K/year to zero. Gone from $78K/year to zero before, but luckily that was only for six months.
ReplyDeleteJazz, I have two fans blowing out at the moment. But when it's still 90F outside at 8:45PM, that doesn't do a whole lot. Haven't encountered weather this hot since I lived in Phoenix, but in Phoenix I at least had air conditioning...
BTW, I left a clue as to which one I chose in the previous message... I'll let you guys guess :).

Well, you beat the deadline. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure out what my company's plans for me are. I haven't run a press in five months; instead, I've been making digital proofs and burning plates for all the other operators all that time. Apparently, everyone likes the way I do these things -- there have been no complaints. And I prefer what I'm doing now to running a press. But you know what they say about all good things -- and later this year, the work flow will slow down, like it does every year.
I guess I'll just wait and see...
Oh, one other thing: if I'm still with the print shop in December, I'll have been there eleven years.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how long I've lasted. My previous record for continuous employment with one company was five years, three months...
