I've decided that the stand near the window needs a potted plant on it to make that corner of the room look less empty, since I don't own a television and thus do not have the central feature of the typical modern living room. The problem is, what plant can I put there which will survive the kittehs (and which the kittehs can survive, for that matter)? Curious penguins are... curious.

Kittehs don't have masters... they have staff. Dogs have masters.
ReplyDeleteCatmint?
ReplyDeleteSpider plants deal nicely with our cats. Though I worry about the tentacle every time I sit to watch a movie.
ReplyDeleteThe bamboo is a favorite of one cat to its impairment.
The Aloe is probably the best. Useful to humans and probably Penguins. Not particularly attractive to cats. Able to cope with abusive 'owners'.

Okay, so I'm just hoping my kittehs don't decide their staff is more important as kibble, then :).
ReplyDeleteTwo cats -- Catnip is indeed a possibility, but Mencken would eat it all up before it got a chance to be big enough to survive.
Martin - Spider plants are certainly nice, but I am accustomed to seeing them in hanging baskets, not on stands. Still, I think you are correct that a spider plant would survive the kittehs. Bamboo... what kind of bamboo? Aloe -- my understanding from the Humane Society is that aloe is actually poisonous to cats. Eeech, I don't want to poison my kittehs! I am going to have to give this more thought, hmm...
